this is long ago, but I seem to recall martial arts weapons being found in one of the trio's lockers at Mt. Doug when we were there. Any other Mt. Doug people recall this? Of course, what does that prove? Nothing!

Darren always seemed just repellent - much like a younger Stephen Harper. That same aura of false goodness. Someone I trust knew Lord and said he was a pretty decent guy. Again, what does any of that prove? nothing.

Congratulations, Jody! You are a very deserving recipient! When you're in Victoria you might think of contacting local furniture stores like Dodd's about the bed issue. He does lots of community service as you know and of course sells Sealy products. Raising money for the container to ship the beds and other donated goods just might be the most practical way to get your goals accomplished.

Jody, I'm wondering if you might also contact Mountain Equipment Coop about camping mattresses and sleeping pads. They seem like a company that is interested in social issues. Perhaps not a permanent or best solution but given these items are lightweight and waterproof and probably could be shipped easily it might provide a start. I hope Sealy comes back with a positive response.

Timely piece, especially in light of (I believe) Charlie Smith's item in the Georgia Straight this week. (It tried to find it via their site, but to no avail). He was noting the 6 figure salaries some DTES charitable organizations members are drawing and added that divulging what their directors earned would be a tricky business, considering one of the more prominent director's (of PTS Society) is Jenny Kwan's husband.

Jody, I can imagine how you felt. Quite often I'm tempted to go somewhere in Georgetown and i feel the same way. where am I going in some dark taxi with a driver I don't know to some place I don't know... and shouldn't I know better? It's unnerving to say the least, and often people are just warm, kind and helpful. But there's always that fear in the bottom of your stomach. Do be careful though, and continue to enjoy Honduras!

LMAO I love this one Jody but I love all your writings BUT I feel you Sista in this one writing about food! I miss Canada being a vegetarian there walking around purchasing gluten free pancakes and my rice milk...boohoo. I almost salivated when someone said they had salmon and cream cheese in South Africa I forgotten what an avocado was until I saw it on a menu in Nelspirt South Africa and celery remember that???
